Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Drive-Away Dolls 5/10 It's really dumb, not very funny, and the accent that Margaret Qualley does is distracting as heck. Although, it does deserve some credit for running just 84 minutes (including credits), it'd be far more insufferable if it had dragged on to 2 hours. Silent Night 5/10 What a sh...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Very odd date for Five Nights 2, especially since the 1st made a killing over the pre-Halloween weekend.

Re: Tranny Tackles the Cinema: The Films of 5/10

Assuming the legs are decent enough, it looks like this franchise has plenty of gas left in the tank.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

The Beekeeper 6.5/10 It's little more than Jason Statham violently killing a bunch of caricatures for 100 minutes. Some satisfying punchy action scenes and a brisk runtime are able to keep the movie afloat, but it's bogged down by a needlessly convoluted plot and too much focus on a somewhat unlika...

Re: The Trailers Shown Before Other Movies Thread

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (Regal):

Joker: Folie à Deux
The Strangers: Chapter 1 (shortened version)
Despicable Me 4 (new)
Inside Out 2
Deadpool & Wolverine
Alien: Romulus

At this rate, I might not see the Bad Boys trailer in theaters at all before it's out.

Re: Screening The Releases - May 3rd

Not great coming in nearly $1m below estimates, hopefully it can find an audience over the coming weeks, as Kingdom is the only other PG-13 blockbuster releasing until late June.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Godzilla Minus One 7.5/10 Looks like I'm joining the "Minus One is overrated" bandwagon. It's still a good movie for sure with some really stunning scenes. The film excels at making Godzilla a frightening presence, every scene with him is gripping and super tense. What they pulled off here on a sho...

MaXXXine
The Bikeriders
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Twisters (new trailer, I definitely prefer the teaser)
Despicable Me 4

Re: Screening The Releases - May 3rd

Fall Guy moved to May 3rd since Universal saw an opportunity to be the summer kickoff film after Disney left that slot up for grabs, and opening 2 weeks before Dune in March probably would've cut its legs more so than opening just before Apes (which was still slated for the 24th back then). This is ...

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Ferrari 6.5/10 The movie's technical elements are quite superb, the racing sequences are thrilling with some great sound design, there are a few effective moments, and the performances are generally solid. The problem is that the story put too much focus on dull relationship drama that I couldn't g...

Re: Most Anticipated Movies of Summer 2024

I haven't done one of these "most anticipated" lists in a while, but fuck it, let's give it a go. 1. Bad Boys: Ride or Die 2. Deadpool & Wolverine 3. A Quiet Place: Day One 4. Alien: Romulus 5. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes 6. Furiosa 7. Twisters Also plan on seeing at some point: The Fall Guy T...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Makes sense to not release Kraven so close to Deadpool. If the thing is somehow any good it could have holiday legs.

Re: Screening The Releases - April 19th

I thought about doing a double feature with Civil War and Abigail, but decided that it'd probably be too much for one day. Plus I wasn't really in the right mood for something as bleak and unrelenting as CW probably is. I may wait that one out honestly.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Abigail 7.5/10 Overall, this is another bloody fun time from Radio Silence. It's tense and gripping throughout without an over reliance on jump scares, it can be appropriately funny without disrupting tension, and the characters walk a fine line and have an edge to them while still remaining likabl...
