Re: Trailer : Megalopolis
MGM dropped the project previously so I can't see Amazon taking a chance on it. And after the failures of films such as Argylle, I have to imagine Apple will want films that have wider audience appeal rather than something that's going to get viewed as a lesser version of Civil War. And if Apple wer...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Bleecker Street's interested more in post-theatrical money at this point and a title like this looks good for TV and streaming packages. As for In the Summers, it's not a very mainstream film so that would explain why it lacks a distributor. In addition, it feels like a lot of distributors gave up o...

Re: Trailer : Megalopolis
Coppola hasn't directed much of note in the past few decades and it looks no different than the numerous other dystopian movies released recently. During the time this was in the works, there's been like, 50 movies that have done the same thing. And I can't believe I have to repeat this, Adam Driver...

Re: SIX TIPS, OR HOW TO PLEASE YOUR SLATE – THE FILMS OF 5/17
Babes to me looks like a long episode of Broad City and the last time someone tried that (Rough Night), it bombed. Babes probably opens decently but I expect it to die in its expansion. As for the wide openers, I'd go a little lower on IF. It seems puzzling that Krasinski would follow his Quiet Plac...

The Exorcism has been pushed to June 21st. Given the barren weekend, it wouldn't surprise me if this ended up being another Shudder title that opens wide.

I didn't think there would be a more filmbro-y movie than last year's Napoleon. This has already topped it.

I think it fails to hit $150 million domestic. Kingdom had the worst Cinemascore of the current series and fatigue over dystopian films has started to set in. Once Furiosa opens, Kingdom will be moved into the smaller auditoriums of your local multiplexes.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch
Those theatres that still use marquees more than likely won't display the title and you probably can't run ads on certain stations before a certain time with such a title. I remember when Kick-Ass came out and some theatres in really conservative areas wouldn't display the title, choosing to list it...

Nightbitch will keep its title, as Disney released a teaser poster this morning. I have to wonder now how many theatres will refuse to play it solely on the title.

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
I don't even think The Strangers opens to $5 million. Prey at Night, greenlighted on the first film's cult following, made less than $25 million total in the US and that was a direct prequel to the original. Also, Renny Harlin hasn't directed a hit in this century (unless you count Skiptrace's succe...

Force of Nature: The Dry 2 7/10 Serviceable sequel to the 2021 thriller where Eric Bana is now sent to the forest to find an informant in an embezzlement case who has gone missing during a hiking retreat and finds that this might not be your typical missing persons case. Along the way, our detective...

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
After the results of Boy Kills World, I'd be surprised if The Crow even hit $20 million total. Skarsgard isn't a box office draw, the character has been tainted by various terrible film sequels, and the trailer makes it look like another John Wick ripoff. August is going to be awful for Lionsgate.

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
Based on the trailer, I think Blink Twice will be a rare flop for Tatum. It looks like every other ensemble dark comedy in the past decade and if Tatum wasn't in it, it would be one of those instantly forgotten indie comedies that puts quirk ahead of substance. Also, does every comedy now have to fe...

Re: 2024-25 Full Year Slates
I haven't seen a thing for The Strangers: Chapter 1. I've seen more things for Sight, which opens a week later, and that one probably won't even hit $10 million. And I really don't get why they made a Beetlejuice sequel now. It feels like the only audience is people who grew up with the first film a...
