Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

I don't know, Infrared just sounds like another Solstice or the numerous other mid-majors that tried to make smaller versions of the movies all the majors were already making to me. If they wanted to make a difference, they'd be making the movies the studios aren't making or going from city to city ...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Mel's been trying to get one made for years. Apparently, he's now got a US distributor (Samuel Goldwyn, who also has domestic distribution rights to much of the Icon library, including the original Passion) and is putting up the money to finance two sequels.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

I just found out that Resurrection is going to be the first of two movies. Not even the Bible is safe from being split up into multiple movies (though to be fair, Christ's resurrection is covered across several books of the Bible and probably couldn't be told in two hours like The Passion was).

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

That Summer Camp pick is ballsy, as the ad campaign only just started. I'm thinking more Miracle Club than Book Club.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

I still think they should move it to November 1st to take advantage of the Christmas setting but October 11th is quite empty at the moment.

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Plot and style-wise, I think Borderlands looks too similar to Guardians of the Galaxy as well as The Suicide Squad. And Eli Roth is no James Gunn.

Funny that Deadpool is being mentioned as Tim Miller directed both the first Deadpool and the Borderlands reshoots.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

It looks like something will be opening wide on May 31st. Lionsgate has scheduled the Diane Keaton/Kathy Bates/Alfre Woodard/Eugene Levy comedy Summer Camp for then and I'd be surprised if it was a limited opener. In other news, Ketchup picked up Hellboy: The Crooked Man for domestic distribution a ...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Between the multiple delays and backlash over the trailer, I could see Borderlands being one of the bombs of the summer. It might not even hit $25 million. As for Wolfs, I have a hard time with the title. It wouldn't surprise me if Apple renamed it like they did Project Artemis (though I think that ...

This hangs over Chien's bed, always reminding him of what he was destined to do. https://assets-prd.ignimgs.com/2023/06/19/fyybldfaaambxsg-1687201253291.jpg?fit=bounds&width=1280&height=720&dpr=2 On a related note, has Ariana DeBose ever been in a hit? She's been in a bunch of things since her Oscar...

Re: 2024-25 YEARLONG BOX-OFFICE DRAFT LEAGUE

Had DreamWorks put The Wild Robot in November, it would hit $150 million, maybe even $200 million. But in September, it could struggle to hit $100 million.

Which is too bad as it's got a great trailer.

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

It looks like Force of Nature: The Dry 2 will be getting at least a semi-wide debut on May 10th. I remember the first one doing reasonably well in my area.

There's still another Costner movie available.
