Re: Coronavirus Megathread

My local AMC has begun selling tickets for August 21st. The lineup: Unhinged (on four screens), Ghostbusters, The Empire Strikes Back, Back to the Future, Inception (on two screens), and Words on Bathroom Walls (on two screens). The local Regal is supposed to release their lineups tomorrow while Ala...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

The Broken Hearts Gallery will stay with Sony, as they will premiere it through a series of drive-in screenings on the studio lot. Apparently, these screenings have had excellent pre-sales. I imagine it will be released through VOD after the premiere. In other news, Disney+ will premiere The Lego St...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

As part of Sony's drive-in reissue spree (which has mostly included 80's titles as those seem to be the only titles making any money), they have revealed Grown Ups will be getting a 10th anniversary reissue this Friday. Why is my only response.

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

My local arthouse is reopening for members only this weekend. I have made a reservation for a free screening of Cinema Paradiso for Sunday afternoon. Hope I don't catch anything.

Re: What Are You Watching Right Now? Episode 3 - Turtles in Time

During my recent string of moviewatching, I came to a realization: why did I force myself to ever like Moulin Rouge? I watched this one again and it might be a strong contender for the worst Best Picture nominee of the 2000's, if not ever. Insanely anachronistic, cliched as hell, and with a plot tha...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

It was a matter of time before Run got sold off.

In other news, Netflix is set to buy the Fear Street trilogy from Disney. I knew this wouldn't play theatrically.

And Amazon and STX are now talking about a sequel to My Spy. Has Amazon ever released a sequel to one of their Prime titles?

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

I think the best case scenario is next year. No way Regal's going to be opening theatres this month (assuming they still plan to because of that deal they made on Unhinged) while the December suggestion a chain representative made might be wishful thinking.

Re: Rate That Movie Part IV: Movies Never Sleep

Arkansas 3/10 Overlong and underwhelming crime drama about two small-time hoods who after being forced into the Southern drug trade, go into business for themselves and run afoul of the head of the organization. A film like this could have used the talents of an S. Craig Zahler but instead we get th...

Re: Coronavirus Megathread

They considered doing that added price thing at one of the theatres here before people complained. One person made a big deal about it, saying that he already spent too much at the movies. Guy wouldn't have been complaining on Facebook if he didn't mention having six children.

Re: The DVD/Blu-Ray (Plus For Sale) Thread

I was in Kansas City last week and I got a lot of Criterions in the actual Barnes & Noble stores that you couldn't get online. I now have a lot of organizing to do. I also got several online and am kind of pissed that my copy of True Stories got trashed in the mail. That one isn't cheap as it has th...

Re: The Latest Date Changes 2: The New Batch

Looks like Sponge on the Run is getting a limited drive-in release next Friday. That might explain Paramount's plan to hold off the streaming debut until next year.

And David Ayer's new one, The Tax Collector, came out today. I wasn't even aware that it had a release date.

Okay, here's how I'll do it. Be here at 7:50 pm CT and I will post a Netflix Party link. But because I'll have other people signing on, you may or may not be able to enter.
